EP, EPX, EPO Ferrite Cores

Epcos AG issues 6 standard sizes of EP ferrite cores and 4 standard sizes of EPO and EPX-configured ferrite cores made from power and wideband ferrite brands. EP, EPO, EPX ferrite cores are intended for using as magnetic circuits of transformers. Cubical construction of cores provides a high degree of space saving on printed circuit board.

Magnetic circuits based on EP, EPO, EPX ferrite cores that are made from N30, T38, T65, T57 wideband materials are characterized by high degree of noise immunity, small value of leakage inductance and are widely used for a manufacture of small-size signaling and subscriber transformers and in xDSL links.
For power applications in a frequency range of up to 300 kHz a series of EP7-EP20 magnetic circuits made from N87 ferrite brand, is used. Detailed information on characteristics of Epcos materials and recommendations for their selection see here.

A wide range of frames for three-dimensional and surface mounting and of mounting brackets provides a modularity of construction for a finished transformer and simplifies a process of installation on printed circuit board.

Additional Information

To decrease losses on transportation and storage, it is recommended (as possible) to order EP, EPX, EPO cores in multiples of amounts contained in factory packages. Information on number of cores in standard factory foam plastic package is given here (ru).
