First soft ferrite materials were developed by Drs. Yogoro Kato and Takeshi Takei of the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1930th.
TDK Corporation(originally known as Tokyo Denki Kagaku Kogyo K.K.) was founded in 1935 by Kenzo Saito for marketing and using of soft ferrite materials developed by Kato and Takei in industry. It is TDK which was the first company started working in this field.
